O2 has officially launched their 5G network, they may have been the last to do so but history tells us it can be just as much about being best-to-market as first-to-market when it comes to network upgrades such as this.
As this technology uses millimetre waves, also known as extremely high frequency (EHF) - the distance it transmits is not close to 3 or 4G. Transmitters will be meshed together in locations such as on top of lampposts and this type of deployment will allow O2 to target key locations such as stations, shopping centres and stadiums - including Twickenham and Arsenal's Emirates football ground.
So if you have a 5G compatible phone, these are the locations you're going to be able to get the most from this new technology in the early days of deployment.

O2 has switched on its 5G network, the last of the UK's mobile operators to do so. The network will initially be available in five cities - Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Leeds and London.
