We receive around 8 calls a week from customers asking us if a phone call they have just received is genuine. The call comes from an automated dialler that plays them a message suggesting that their broadband/phone service is about to be cut off, and the only way to stop this is to press 1 on their phone. After pressing 1, they are put through to a fraudster who states they are running a test (they are not). They then go on to say there is an issue and start to ask for personal information.
So far, all the reports we have received are from customers that were suspicious and did not provide any information, and the fraudster hung up on them. They are fishing for your personal information, so please be careful.
This is a fraud attempt and we would encourage anybody who receives a call like this to report it to Action Fraud - https://www.actionfraud.police.uk more information on the reporting process can be found at https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/reporting-fraud-and-cyber-crime.
Please do not hesitate to give us a call on 03456 200 200 or email info@2circles.com to discuss how we can help protect you from fraud.
Don't give out any banking details over the phone unless you're absolutely certain who you're talking to, and if in doubt hang up immediately.
