This month saw the start of the Wellness Challenge at 2 Circles with an astounding uptake by 100% of our employees.
After months of lockdown and remote working, we really wanted to find an all-inclusive activity firstly to focus on both mental and physical wellbeing and secondly to get the different departments in the business communicating again.
With the help of a small start-up company, Walk With You (W2Y) App, which has developed a great walking app, our dream became a reality – a big shout out to Mehul & RD who have worked tirelessly to accommodate all our requirements and get the challenge off the ground (or should I say on the ground?!).
The challenge is made up of two elements, firstly the team Race to Reach challenge, a simple yet hugely effective steps challenge. Teams were drawn randomly across the business, the virtual route was set, and every person contributed to the teams' efforts.
The second part of the challenge is based on earning points and receive prizes for achieving different levels: ‘Beat Your Own Goal’ steps, drinking water, partaking in other wellness activities, and team efforts.
To top it off, we’ve included a charity and a community incentive. For each team that completes the challenge, and of course they all will, 2 Circles will make a sizeable donation to a charity of the team’s choice. We’ve also purchased some litter pickers and are clocking up volunteering hours for the community while we’re out doing our steps.
We are now over two weeks into the challenge and are delighted with the uptake and the results – what an amazing bunch of people we work with!
According to Sport England’s latest Active Lives Adult Survey, the coronavirus pandemic has contributed to a decrease in the number of adults classed as active, and an increase in the number of adults classed as inactive in England.
