A report from Which? has found 40% of Android users worldwide are not receiving vital security updates. This puts those users at greater risk of data theft, ransomware and a host of other malware attacks.
To check the version of Android on the Handset the user would need to go to Settings>About Phone and then scroll down to Android version.
If the Handset is on an earlier version than Android 7.0 Nougat, they should try to update via Settings> System>Advanced System update.
If an update is not possible we would recommend the below steps.
- Be cautious on what you download
- Watch what you click on
- Back up your data regularly
- Get a well-known mobile antivirus app
Devices running a version of Android 4 or below will be the most vulnerable.
